Densus 88 Captures 14 Terrorist Suspects in 3 Provinces

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Indonesian Police’s counter-terrorism team, Densus 88, recorded 14 presumed terrorists on Thursday, December 16,2021 The Police Head office’ PR chief, Sr. Comr. Ahmad Ramadhan, stated that the suspects were apprehended in North Sumatra, Batam, and South Sumatra.

Ramadhan stated on Friday, December 17, 2021, that nine suspects were collared in North Sumatra, one in South Sumatra, “and 4 in Batam, Riau Islands.”

He said that the suspects are now detained in police headquarters in each province.

Ramadhan did not say which terrorist networks the 14 suspects are linked with, whether it is Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) or Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD).

Earlier today on Monday, December 13, 2021, the Densus 88 Antiterror Team also apprehended four men presumed of being members of JI in South Sumatra. The suspects were concealing fugitives from the JI group and were linked with terrorism funding activities.
