Task Force: 44 pct Indonesian Regions at Low Risk of Covid-19

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Doni Monardo, the head of the national Covid-19 mitigation task force, said 44 percent of the total 514 regencies or cities in Indonesia have now been recorded with low risk of the new coronavirus infection.

“There are now 44 percent regencies/cities with low risk[ of Covid-19 transmission] and are safe, [classified as] yellow and green zones,” said Doni, reporting to President Jokowi at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 10.

He opined this as a good momentum that must be maintained, albeit several regions were still recording a hike in infection cases.

“Several regions report an increase in cases, but we believe divisions of tasks between the center and regional government are getting better, and as ordered by the President, we are still monitoring regions with high risk [of coronavirus spread],” Doni said.

Doni claimed that the central government has been working with the regional administrations up to the community unit or RW level officers to change people’s behavior to be more disciplined in implementing health protocols.

“Our spearhead is the chain of command from the central government to the community unit level. If we manage to change people’s behavior, our prevention efforts are then the best way,” Doni said.
