Jusuf Kalla Heads to Vatican as Zayed Award Selection Committee

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, also known as JK, will reportedly meet Pope Francis in talks about the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity on Friday, October 23. Kalla had been nominated to join the award’s jury panel.

The award itself will seek people making breakthroughs as a statement released by the Higher Committee says that the award was created in 2019 “to recognize outstanding work by individuals or entities in creating breakthroughs and driving human progress”.

According to the Vaticannews, the award recalls the heritage of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan. He is both the founder of the UAE and the former ruler of Abu Dhabi. His “values of humility, humanitarianism and respect epitomize the enduring ideals it seeks to celebrate”, the statement from the award’s higher committee says.

Jusuf Kalla, in his written statement on Thursday, Oct. 22, said the judging committee will consider people or entities anywhere in the world who are leading by example across divides to deliver real and positive change.
