Gojek Introduces Protective Screen for Online Ojek Service

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The country’s ride-hailing giant Gojek has provided its online ojek driver-partners with a protective screen in order to prevent direct contact with passengers. The additional facility has been started for use today, June 10.

“There are hundreds of shields distributed today,” said the company’s Senior Vice President of Transport Marketing, Monita Moerdani, in a virtual conference on Wednesday, June 10.

The management showcased the modified protective barrier. Tempo observed that the screen is made of plastics with a metal frame and is attached to the driver’s back like a backpack with a height of half of the user’s body, while the width exceeds the user’s body.

Monita explained that Gojek cooperated with a proven producer of protective shields. The facilities will be distributed free for all driver-partners in the future.

“We regard this as a new basic service standard. So we don’t charge additional fees for drivers to have this facility, as well as passengers,” she said.

Online motorcycle taxi service has resumed after the Jakarta administration relaxed the Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB. The Transportation Ministry then required online ojek operators to install protective screens to prevent contact between drivers and passengers.
