Jokowi Asks Health Minister to Improve Vaccination System for Health Workers

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called for better management in the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination program which targeted health workers in Indonesia. Until today, only 250,000 healthcare workers had been inoculated.

“This is just the beginning. Vaccination has just begun, starting with health workers, both doctors and nurses. Usually, in the beginning, the management in the field needs to be improved,” he said after receiving the second shot at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Despite the existence of management issues, he said there have been improvements. In the past two days, the number of workers who had been vaccinated jumped by 50,000.

“We hope that the target will be reached because we have 30,000 vaccinators in 10,000 community health centers (Puskesmas) and 3,000 hospitals. We hope that at least 900 to 1 million will be vaccinated,” said the President.

Thus, Jokowi asked Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to improve the management of vaccination to achieve the target.
