1 Million Covid-19 Cases; Minister: Don’t Let Death of Health Workers Be in Vain

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin appealed to the public to join hands in containing the pandemic as Indonesia’s number of Covid-19 cases had surpassed one million.

He said that more than 600 health workers died while on duty against coronavirus. Thus he asked the public not to let their deaths go to waste.

“600 health workers died. Don’t let them die in vain. We must ensure that we can continue their fights [against the pandemic],” said Budi at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Budi asserted the government and the people must work harder together to tackle the pandemic. People are asked to be disciplined in complying with the health protocols of 3M, namely washing hands, wearing face masks, and maintaining distance.

As for the government, the Health Ministry promised to work harder to carry out the 3T, viz. testing, tracing, treatment. “That is what we must do together,” said Budi.

According to him, the one-million positive cases of Covid-19 was a moment of grief. Other than health workers, many people died of the virus.

“We must reflect on this. This proves that coronavirus exists, the pandemic exists, and this is a serious issue,” said Budi Gunadi.
