Jakarta Deputy Governor Talks of COVID-19 Vaccination

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said the city administration was waiting for the decision of the central government, particularly the Health Ministry, the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Ministry, and the coronavirus disease mitigation task force, regarding the COVID-19 vaccination.

According to him, once the vaccine is available, the central government will regulate the distribution of the antibody. “We as the provincial government will only accept the decision on how many vaccines to be given, when, and stages of the distribution,” said Riza on Monday, November 9, 2020.

The central government, he added, would make policies related to the vaccine allocation, the regulations, and the target priorities. Riza said he was informed that the immunization would be prioritized for health workers, such as doctors, nurses, volunteers, and officers who had direct contact with patients.

Riza said Jakarta would further coordinate with the central government regarding this matter. “We support the various efforts made by the central government in order to prevent, mitigate, and conduct vaccination of COVID-19,” the governor said.

In a press conference on Thursday, November 5, spokesperson for the COVID-19 mitigation task force Wiku Adisasmito said the government through the Health Ministry was still deliberating the roadmap of COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia.
