COVID-19 Task Force Outlines 3 Groups Eligible for Free Quarantine Facility

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The COVID-19 Task Force underlined that only three groups of people arriving from abroad are allowed to get free quarantine facilities upon arrival in Indonesia. They are Indonesian migrant workers, students who have completed their studies abroad, and state civil servants on overseas duty.

The task force spokesman Hery Trianto said this provision refers to the Task Force Circular No. 25 of 2021 concerning health protocols for international travelers during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was inked by the task force chief of COVID-19 handling Lt. Gen. Suharyanto on December 14, 2021.

“Indonesian citizens who do not meet the aforementioned criteria are welcome to undergo quarantine at quarantine accommodations or hotels recommended by the COVID-19 Task Force in collaboration with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI),” said Hery in his statement, Tuesday, December 21.

PHRI official Vivi Herlambang said that 29.66 percent of the quarantine rooms or around 4,920 rooms were available as of December 20. “11,668 rooms or 70 percent of the total room provided (16,588) have been occupied,” she said.

“If the mandatory quarantine period is adjusted to 14 days, we are ready to add more rooms,” she added.

According to Vivi, foreign citizens or Indonesians who are non-migrant workers are required to book hotel rooms for quarantine before arrivals. “To reduce long queue at the airport, people arriving from abroad who have finished the PCR tests are advised to go directly to the hotel,” she said.
