Assembly Deputy Speaker Condemns Killings in Sigi, C Sulawesi

IDNEWSNOW.COM, JakartaDeputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Lestari Moerdijat, condemned the attack on residential homes and the killing of residents in Lemba Tongoa Village, Sigi District of Central Sulawesi on Friday (November 27).

In a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, Moerdijat asked the police force to promptly apprehend the mastermind behind the attack and take firm action against the perpetrators of the inhumane act.

“The law enforcement must be firm in dealing with security disturbances committed by terrorists against citizens,” she said. The deputy speaker also urged the community to not be provoked by the action, in order to prevent conflicts in the community.

She invited the community to unite against acts of terrorism that stood far from the national values , including unity, mutual cooperation and deliberation to reach consensus in dealing with various problems.

She also asked stakeholders in each region to always instill national values in their citizens through various opportunities to anticipate the emergence of irresponsible acts, aimed at turning various religious believers against each other.

Furthermore, he reminded the government to always make efforts to prevent acts of terrorism in the country through effective steps, ensuring that such incidents do not happen again.

On Friday (November 27), eight unidentified individuals barged into one of the residents’ houses through the back entrance and took about 40 kilograms of rice.

The violent perpetrators’ act had led to fallen casualties in Sigi District, and they are suspected to be members of the Poso East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) group.

As a result of the incident, a number of residents who resided near the victim’s house, hid, fled and even sought  refuge outside of their own areas.
