IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Central Kalimantan was promised two additional units of water-bombing helicopters by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) today, August 24. The province had already received a water-bomber and a patrol helicopter as aerial firefighting units to control land and forest fires.
Darliansyah, chief executive of Central Kalimantan’s Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBPK), made the promise on Saturday during a coordination meeting on forest and land fires control in Seruyan Regency.
Darliansyah, who is also deputy commander of the Land and Forest Fire Control Task Force, said his unit has prepared air support operations for firefighting; using one patrol helicopter and three water-bombing helicopters.
The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government declared an emergency status for land and forest fire disasters on July 1. The status is valid until September 28, 2020.
Darliansyah reminded of a joint-commitment to establish the ‘Smoke-free Central Kalimantan 2020’ agenda, which was agreed on November 4, 2019. “I want to ensure that all regents and mayors have followed up on this commitment,” he said.
