Workers Pay Their Own Swab Tests to Stage Anti-Omnibus Protest

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Chairperson of the Federation of Electronic Metal Machinery Workers Union (FSP LEM SPSI), Arif Minardi said that the workers participating in anti-omnibus law rallies on October 6-8 were required by their employers to undergo coronavirus swab tests.

Minardi explained that the costs were not covered by the employers and that the union members who took to the streets paid for the tests themselves.

“But that’s okay, it’s all for the sake of ur struggle. We put forth our safety to prevent being exposed to coronavirus,” said Arif while speaking as the orator for the workers union rally.

Even though rally participants are burdened by the cost of undergoing swab tests, he assured that union members will continue to participate in rallies until it grabs the attention of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

The FSP LEM SPSI chair said larger crowds will be mobilized in the upcoming anti-omnibus law protest slated for October 28.
