VP Ma’ruf Amin Condemns Persecution of Ahmadiyah in Kalimantan

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin in a written statement on Wednesday condemned the mob attack that desolated an Ahmadiyah house of worship at West Kalimantan’s Sintang Regency. He urged authorities to better detect similar instances in the future.

The Ahmadiyah community is a minority religious group that has faced multiple persecution for their beliefs that go against majority Muslim beliefs.

“We will not let another incident take place again in the future,” the VP wrote. “Authorities must better prevent such incidents.”

He also urged for the case to be taken to the court and legally process the masses from both sides who could be proven guilty.

“The law must be enforced on those who committed the violations, either from the attackers or maybe violations from those who were attacked,” the Vice President wrote.

The Sintang Regency administration permanently halted the operations of the Ahmadiyah house of worship located at the Balai Harapan Village, which comes under the direct orders of the West Kalimantan Governor.
