Total PSBB Reintroduced; Anies Baswedan Aiming to Curb People’s Mobility

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has decided to “pull the emergency brake policy” by reintroducing the full-on large-scale social restriction (PSBB) and will drop the “transitional” status, which had slackened the restrictions.

This decision was taken after Anies deemed “the current condition is far more desperate compared to the early days of the pandemic” during tonight’s breaking press conference streamed by the Jakarta administration through Facebook.

By imposing the total PSBB again, public activities will be greatly curbed. ONe example is to impose remote working or ‘work from home’ for office workers in companies that are considered non-essential starting from September 14.

“It’s not the businesses that stop. But the office activity is stopped,” said the governor.

He also explains that all of the tourist sites managed by the city administration will be closed, such as the Ragunan zoo, National Monument or Monas, the Ancol theme park, and other destinations. Meanwhile, restaurants will be allowed to operate under rules that ban in-dining after the administration found evidence that restaurants have once become places where the virus spreads.

Attendance at houses of worship are also limited, especially in large urban locations. Anies Baswedan said mosques and other places of worship in rural areas are permitted to open.
