Teacher in Bandung Faces 20-Year Imprisonment for Raping 12 Students

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Bandung – West Java High Court said a boarding school owner and teacher identified as HW (36) is threatened with a sentence of 20 years in prison for raping 12 female students. Some of the students became pregnant and gave birth.

The court’s official Riyono said HW has now become a defendant as he has already undergone a trial. HW is charged with Article 81 of the Child Protection Law.

“The threat is 20 years [in prison] but this needs to be underlined that there are things that weigh down [the charge] because he is a teacher, so the threat is 20 years,” he said in Bandung, Thursday, December 9.

He explained that HW had allegedly molested 12 female students who were still minors since 2016.

All of the victims, Riyono said, were students at the defendant’s Islamic boarding school or pesantren in Bandung, West Java. The female students had even given birth to eight babies and three of them are currently pregnant.

“They are still children, so of course there is trauma,” Riyono added.

Another official of the court Dodi Gazali explained HW’s immoral actions were carried out in various places, including school building up to hotels and apartments. Dodi also said HW was suspected of threatening the children with violence.
