Task Force Shares Tips of Covid-19 Spread Anticipation in 3 Locations

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Spokesman for the Indonsian COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, shares tips to prevent or anticipate the spread of coronavirus in three potential venues.

“Many researchers agree that virus transmission is influenced by many factors depending on the place and people’s behavior,” said Wiku in a press conference, Thursday, September 30.

The first location is home and the neighborhood community. Houses and residential areas are not 100 percent free from COVID-19 spread. The risk factors lie in the people’s collective compliance with the health protocols, the density of houses, as well as proximity and interaction time between the people.

Wiku suggested that people must abide by the health measures, refer people infected with the virus to self-quarantine at a centralized site, and avoid crowds or chatting in a room.

The second is public transportation or during a trip. Wiku said the most likely site for the virus to spread is on public transportation. The aspects also vary, including the public compliance with health protocols, ventilation systems, seat distance between passengers, travel duration, and cleanliness of transport means.

The Covid task force spokesman said that all passengers must wear face masks, keep their distance, and not talk to each other during the trip. “The owner or company must assure that the ventilation system runs well, carry out routine cleaning and disinfection,” he underlined.

The third locations is outside the home or when doing outdoor activities. The risk factors are public compliance with the health protocols, contacts with others during the trip and at home, as well as the room’s size and ventilation system.

Wiku asserted that potential COVID-19 transmission outside the home can be anticipated by being disciplined in applying the health protocols and adopting more protection standards.
