Task Force: Covid-19 Transmission Rate, Mortality Rate Decrease

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, reported the good trend in the weekly pandemic mitigation. According to him, there was a decrease in the number of national weekly cases by 10.8 percent.

“This figure shows that there is a drop in virus transmission in the community,” said Wiku in his statement on Wednesday, February 10.

However, Wiku mentioned that five provinces still recorded the highest weekly surge. They were Jakarta with 4,204 cases, East Nusa Tenggara with 480, North Kalimantan 333, North Sumatra 223, and East Kalimantan 206.

“This is a good development because, during the past four weeks, the addition of positive cases was dominated by provinces from Java and Bali,” he added.

As for the case mortality rate, there was also a decrease of 32 percent compared to the previous week. This week, five provinces with the highest hike in death cases included West Nusa Tenggara by 22 cases, North Maluku by 5 cases, Jambi by 2 cases, Maluku by 2 cases, and Aceh by 1 case. This week, provinces from Java were not listed.

Meanwhile, the national Covid-19 recovery rate declined by 4.2 percent compared to last week. Five provinces with the highest increase in cure rate were Jakarta with 3,005 cases, West Java with 2,072 cases, East Kalimantan with 691 cases, Lampung with 365 cases, and Riau Islands with 289 cases.
