Surabaya Beats Jakarta in INRIX 2021 Global Traffic Scorecard

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Private analytics firm INRIX named Surabaya as the city in Indonesia with the most traffic congestion throughout 2021 in its 2021 Global Traffic Scorecard.

By utilizing traffic data across several travel sub-areas within the city, the 2021 Global Traffic Scorecard calculated time lost in traffic jams.

Using the website’s interactive dashboard and specifying it to Indonesia, INRIX named Surabaya as the city with the worst traffic in the country.

Besides, the East Java capital city also ranked 41st on the global scale in 2021 and averaged the time lost to congestion to 62 hours.

Meanwhile, the capital city of Jakarta, which often tops the list of most congested cities in the world, was the world’s 222nd most congested city with an average time lost due to congestion of 28 hours.

A few hundred kilometers to the east is Denpasar, which INRIX named as the third most congested city in Indonesia and the 291st in the world. The average time lost in the city due to traffic was 31 hours.

Malang ranked as the fourth Indonesian city with the most congested traffic and at 334th level on the global scale with an average time lost caused by traffic to 29 hours.

The fifth Indonesian city in the INRIX 2021 Global Traffic Scorecard was the West Java city of Bogor, which also ranked the 821st city in the world with the worst traffic. The average time lost by traffic was seven hours.
