Sumedang Police Probe 3 Women for Cutting National Flag

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Sumedang Police, West Java, investigated three of the four women who allegedly tore up the national flag. The four women cut the Merah Putih (red and white) flag and uploaded their action on the video-sharing platform TikTok.

“We have examined three of them identified as PO, AM, and DYH,” said the National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Argo Yuwono via an online press conference on Wednesday, September 16.

In a 30-second video footage, four women were seen cutting the Indonesian flag. The pieces of the flag were tossed and left scattered on the floor.

From the incident, Argo said the police had confiscated a pair of scissors, pieces of the red and white flag, and a smartphone.

“As a result of their actions, they are accused of violating Article 66 in conjunction with Article 24a of Law No. 24 of 2009 concerning the National Flag, Language, and Symbols,” said Argo.
