Police’s ‘Land Mafia’ Task Force Announces Progress

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The National Police’s land mafia task force is currently completing 37 cases that become the target set by the National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo in his 100-day work program. 

The National Police’s General Crime Director Brig. Gen. Andi Rian said on May 1 that 16 case dossiers had been deemed complete or P21, eight cases still undergoing phase one, while the rest 13 were under investigation. 

He revealed there were 24 individuals incriminated in the land mafia cases that have progressed to phase II. He did not elaborate whether the suspects were exclusively individuals or include corporations. 

Overall, the land mafia task force is eyeing to complete 87 cases until the end of 2021. 

The National Police formed the land mafia task force in partnership with the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry and the National Defense Agency (BPN). The police have started to attempt a massive extermination of land mafias following orders by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
