Police, Military to Take Stern Action in Disciplining Public to Wear Face Masks

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta National Police Deputy Chief Comr. Gen. Gatot Eddy Pramono said stern action would be taken against those who failed to comply with the national face mask health protocols beginning Monday, September 21, in a national-scale yustisi operation involving the National Police (Polri), the Armed Forces (TNI), public order agencies (satpol PP), and the AGO.

The yustisi operation has officially kicked off on Thursday, September 10, but is still in its early phase to disseminate the purpose of the operation to the public.

Gatot assured the approaches in the operation would be far from being repressive, and that humanist approaches would be prioritized. Some 34.3 million face masks will be distributed for free across the country during the operation.

“This isn’t a repressive operation, but rather more to discipline the people to wear their face masks and assure that the COVID-19 protocols are implemented well,” Gatot explained.
