Jakarta Governor, Health Ministry Join Hands Preventing Omicron Transmission

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – In order to prevent local transmission of Omicron, Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan and his board join hands with the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Task Force.

“We have always worked quicker if together with the Ministry of Health’s Task Force, the monitoring can be done intensively,” said him on Tuesday, December 28.

A resident of Pademangan apartment in North Jakarta was recorded to be the first case of Omicron local transmission. This person is suspected to have escaped from the quarantine facilities and returns to his home.

The patient has been evacuated by officers to Prof. Dr. Sulianti Saroso Hospital in Tanjung Priok.

According to Anis, the attempt to trace patient’s contact is still carried on by the task force by involving concerned parties such as the local government and management of the apartment.

The ministry has declared that the aforementioned patient does not have an international trip history. “They came to Jakarta on December 6, both the patient and his wife. Then on December 17, they ate at a restaurant in SCBD,” said the ministry spokesmen Siti Nadia Tarmizi in an online conference on Tuesday, December 28.

Nadia then explained, when the said patient about to returns to Medan on December 19, the antigen result came out positive. Because of that, a PCR test is done the following day and later on the Omicron was confirmed from WGS laboratory on December 26.
