Police: Explosive at Veronica Koman’s House a Type of Firecracker

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The police said that the explosive materials used by the perpetrators at the house of the human rights activist, Veronica Koman, were a type of firecrackers. With this information, the police for now rule out suspicions that the explosion was carried out by terrorist groups.

“From what we got, it doesn’t lead to that [suspicions],” The National Police PR Division’s head of public information Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono said at his office in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 10.

He said the explosives used by the perpetrators were like firecrackers. These materials, he said, are not the kind that terrorists use.

Rusdi said the police were still investigating the perpetrators’ motives, which could only be known once they are arrested.

“The police do not make assumptions about motives,” he said.

The police added that the police were investigating all the evidence that have been collected, including CCTV footage. He said the bomb terror case would be handled by the Metro Jaya Police and the West Jakarta Police.
