Jakarta Allows Wedding Receptions; 25 Percent Max Capacity Imposed

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Jakarta Administration on Friday officially allowed wedding receptions to be held again after banning it due to COVID-19 large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) that were imposed since the beginning of the pandemic.

The city’s tourism and creative economy board chairperson, Bambang Ismadi, made sure there were strict requirements people must follow before filing an official request to hold a wedding reception.

“[Requiring] a 25 percent capacity and must attach a health protocol proposal,” Ismadi confirmed on Friday, November 6.

This public gathering leeway was first noted by Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria on October 22, who said that the government would soon allow Jakartans to hold wedding receptions either at home or public facilities as the PSBB was loosened to the “transitional PSBB.”

The pressure on the government to lift the ban on wedding receptions came from wedding services business associations. At the time, they claimed they would always abide by strict COVID-19 health protocols.
