Over 700 Tons of Garbage Gathered from Manggarai Water Gate

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Jakarta Environmental Agency on Tuesday announced that it has cleared 766 tons of garbage from the Ciliwung Manggarai floodgate. Over 200 joint personnel were mobilized to the location that often sees mountains of garbage clog the water gate.

The hundreds of personnel, who have worked 24 hours straight, are from the environmental agency and water resources agency.

“We have also mobilized 52 trucks of various sizes to transport the garbage away,” said Andono, added that heavy machinery was prepared to take the trash away from the location.

The latest observation sees water levels at the Manggarai Water Gate remain at the height of 700 cm. Apart from Manggarai, the agency also collected 148 tons of garbage from the west flood canal near West Jakarta’s Season City.
