Moeldoko Discloses Success of Jokowi-Ma’ruf First Year Administration

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko admitted that there were still shortcomings in the first year of Joko Widodo or Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin administration. He argued that many state agendas were hindered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the government had made many achievements.

“There are several issues that will be corrected. Of course, the government cannot work perfectly because perfection does not belong to humans. But, the government is always willing to improve from time to time,” said Moeldoko at his office on Wednesday, October 21.

In the 2020 Annual Report drafted by the Office of Presidential Staff (KSP), Moeldoko had disclosed the government’s achievements, such as on human resource development; infrastructure development; simplification of regulations; simplification of the bureaucracy; and economic transformation.

The KSP stated that the Jokowi administration had managed to increase the Human Development Index in the past year. Babies born in 2019 have a life expectancy of 71.34 years, 0.56 years longer than those born four years earlier.

In terms of economic growth, Indonesia indeed experienced a contraction of 5.3 percent in the second quarter of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the government claimed the figure was much better than that of other Southeast Asian countries. Even among the G-20 nations, Indonesia ranked third below China and South Korea.

According to the report, the Omnibus Law on Job Creation was also included in the government’s achievements on the simplification of regulations. The policy simplified 79 laws and united 11 clusters into one rule.

“The omnibus law is expected to be a ‘potent’ drug to produce efficient and aspirational legal products,” the KSP report said.
