IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir on Wednesday said that Indonesian SOEs will continue to undergo a supply chain transformation, with one of it being the healthcare industry which is expected to produce paracetamol.
“We will build a paracetamol factory, which had always been an imported commodity,” said Erick Thohir in Wednesday’s virtual talk show HSBC Economic Forum.
Paracetamol production is one of Erick Thohir’s SOEs merger in the field of healthcare as there will be health cluster SOEs and the pharmaceutical industry. Bio Farma, Kimia Farma, Indo Farma, and Petra Medika are examples of the firms.
In total, there will be 12 SOEs clusters in total with each respectable area of focus. Other clusters established by Erick Thohir include the energy and oil and gas, food supply, oil and mining, forestry and agriculture, defense and manufacturing, financial services, infrastructure, insurance, and pension funds, telco and media, tourism, and logistics.
However, rumors about the production of paracetamol has emerged since July 2020 where at the time Pertamina’s refinery arm KPI had synergized with Kimia Farma to optimize potential added values in processing petrochemical subsidiary products into pharmaceutical raw materials such as paracetamol.
