IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud Md invited leaders of labor unions to discuss the draft on job creation bill or RUU Cipta Kerja at his office, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 10.

The session initiated by the Coordinating Minister was attended by Andi Gena Nuna Wea (President of All-Indonesia Workers Union Confederation or KSPSI), Said Iqbal (President of the Indonesian Workers Unions or KSPI), Elly Rosita (Head of the Confederation of Indonesian Prosperity Trade Unions or KSBSI), and other leaders of labor unions.

“The meeting is aimed at sharing ideas about the omnibus law on labor. With the belief that we have the same view to improving the dignity and welfare of workers,” said Mahfud Md.

The KSPSI president Andi Gani Nena Wea pinned hope that the government, employers, and labor unions could sit together to deliberate issues on employment in order to reach mutual understanding.

“We hope that a technical team can be formed soon, a tripartite team that consists of labor unions, Kadin (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), and the government to sit together and have discussions,” Andi said.

The KSPI President Said Iqbal, meanwhile, said he appreciated the government’s response. “The future challenge is a change in the pattern of work relations, and it turns out to occur during this pandemic,” said Iqbal.
