Loh Buaya Komodo National Park Temporarily Closed for Construction

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Environment and Forestry Ministry’s Directorate General of Natural Resource Conservation and the Komodo National Park have announced they are idnewsnowrarily closing the Loh Buaya Resort on Rinca Island, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

The national park’s chairperson, Lukita Awang Nistyantara, said Sunday the closure was carried out to revitalize the natural tourism infrastructure on the island. 

“The closure of Loh Buaya is due to the acceleration process of the organization and construction programs of the area’s facilities conducted by the Public Works and Housing ministry,” said Lukita on November 16. 

Apart from Loh Buaya Resort, the Rinca Island has also been closed since October 26 until June 30, 2021. The idnewsnowrary closure status will be evaluated every two weeks. According to the national park, there are currently 60 komodo dragons living in the Loh Buaya valley. 

Lukita also said to Antaranews that there were at least 15 of the protected species that were often seen in the vicinity of the infrastructure construction site.
