KPU Chairman Arief Budiman Tests Positive for COVID-19

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – General Election Commission (KPU) chairman Arief Budiman has tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is in self-quarantine at home.

“I conducted a swab test on September 17 evening as a requirement to attend a meeting at the Bogor Palace, and it turned back positive. The meeting was then represented by KPU members,” said Arief via short message on Friday, September 18, 2020.

Arief said he was now in self-quarantine at home because he did not develop symptoms such as cough, fever, flu, or shortness of breath.

Due to the positive result, Arif added, all people at the KPU official residences were obliged to undergo swab tests. “Including me for a retest,” he said.

Arief said the KPU decided to instate a work from home policy beginning today until Tuesday, September 22, 2020. “And sterilizing all areas of the official residences and office starting tomorrow (Sept. 19),” he said.
