Jokowi Mentions ‘Investment-friendly’ Omnibus Law in World Economic Forum

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, in Wednesday’s World Economic Forum Special Virtual on Indonesia proudly invited the global community to invest in Indonesia.

During the President’s speech, Jokowi said he urged the global community to invest in the country to “build an inclusive world economy that is sustainable and resilient.”

He proudly said that Indonesia is committed to an inclusive economy that builds a harmony between man and environment that is also capable of adapting and ready to face crises.

Jokowi took the opportunity to boast about Indonesia’s decision to pass the – what many may argue as a highly controversial passing of a Bill – omnibus law on job creation which he claims “Eases business permits and provides legal certainty along with providing incentives to attract investments especially in the labor-intensive industry and digital economy.”

Moreover, the President assured that the country continues to commit to a greener economy and one that is sustainable without ignoring protection against the environment, “Protection for tropical forests remains to be our priority as the defense against climate change.”
