Jokowi: Law Enforcers Misusing Regulations are State Enemy

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that the government continued to synchronize regulations sustainably. He also warned law enforcement officials and supervisors not to take advantage of unsynchronized rules to frighten executive officials, businessmen, and the public.

“Misusing regulations to frighten and blackmail people endanger the national development agenda. I warn this, law enforcers and supervisors who do that are the enemies of all of us, state enemies,” said the president at the National Action of Corruption Prevention event on Wednesday, August 26.

He underlined that there was no excuse for people misusing regulations. “I will not tolerate anyone who commits this violation,” he remarked.

The President admitted that many existing regulations were overlapped, unclear, and did not provide legal certainty. “Rules that create complex procedures, rules that discourage officials from taking action and making innovation must be changed and simplified.”

The government, Jokowi went on, has started to simplify and synchronize the regulations, such as by drafting the omnibus law. “One law will synchronize dozens of policies simultaneously so that they can harmoniously provide legal certainty,” he said.
