Jokowi Holds Live Dialogue with Elementary Students on National Children’s Day

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo celebrated the National Children’s Day by having a dialogue with the students of the Sudimara of Cilongok Elementary School, Banyumas, Central Java. The dialogue was done virtually and broadcasted on Youtube.

“Happy National Children’s Day to all my children in Indonesia. When children are protected, Indonesia will advance,” the president said this morning, July 23.

President Jokowi said he understands that children want to be able to go back to school and play with friends like before the Covid-19 pandemic. “You must be missing your friends, grandfather, grandmother, uncle and aunt,” said Jokowi.

When a child said they want to go back to school, Widodo said the government was planning to reopen schools in July. However it had to be canceled because of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia.

“When the situation is better, we will return to classrooms,” the president promised.

President Joko Widodo reminded children to keep up their spirit, continue learning, praying, and following health protocols. “I hope you will stay motivated to learn even though you are not studying in schools.”
