Java-Bali PPKM Extended; Stricter COVID-19 Rules Enforced in 40 Regions

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The government decided to extend the enforcement of public activity restrictions (PPKM) until February 14, 2022. The number of regions under stricter COVID-19 rules or PPKM Level 3 has also increased.

This policy was noted in the Instruction of the Home Affairs Minister No. 9 of 2022 and took effect from February 8 to 14, 2022. 

The number of regions in PPKM Level 1 dropped from 40 to 30 regions, in Level 2 from 86 to 57 regions, while in Level 3, the number soared from only 2 to 41 regions following a significant surge in COVID-19 cases.

Regions in PPKM Level 3 include Jakarta, Bali, Banten (Tangerang City, Cilegon City, Tangerang Regency, Serang Regency, Pandeglang Regency, South Tangerang City, and Serang City), and West Java (Cirebon, Bogor City, Bekasi City, Bandung City, Depok City, Cimahi City, Bogor Regency, Bekasi Regency, Regency, West Bandung, Bandung Regency, and Sumedang Regency).

Additionally, Tegal of Central Java, Yogyakarta (Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta City, Kulonprogo Regency, and Gunungkidul Regency), as well as Kediri and Pamekasan of East Java were also under PPKM Level 3.
