Jakarta’s Monas Area Closed Due to Mass Protest; Traffic Redirected

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – A number of streets in the vicinity of Central Jakarta’s National Monument (Monas) had been idnewsnowrarily closed by authorities since Monday evening of October 12 before Tuesday’s mass protests against the passing of the omnibus job creation law.

Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that traffic in the surrounding streets of Monas has been redirected too since last night. 

“We hope people will take notice that we have closed a number of roads since last night such as the West Medan Merdeka, Museum Street, North Medan Merdeka, Majapahit Street and Veteran Street,” said Syafrin. 

Road Users intending to travel through the aforementioned areas are advised to take alternative routes that pass the Central Jakarta area as yet another anti-omnibus job creation law protest will take place today.
