Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo Falls from Bike, Injures Hand

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo had an accident while cycling on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 07: 15 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). He fell off his bike during a routine monitoring of the health protocols implementation.

As a result of the accident, Ganjar’s right hand was injured. He then underwent a surgery at the Kariadi General Hospital, Semarang City.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Central Java Regional Secretariat Agung Kristianto said that Ganjar had an accident while crossing the West Flood Canal bridge in Semarang City, not far from the Siliwangi Hotel. “It is true that he fell off the bicycle,” he said.

According to Agung, riding is a routine activity that Ganjar does almost every day. He usually rides his bicycle to meet the community.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ganjar also rode bicycle to monitor and disseminate health protocols. “Moreover, this is a holiday, many people travel, and the cycling was conducted in order to monitor the situation because Omicron cases are increasing,” he explained.

The initial plan for Ganjar Pranowo was that he planned to cycle to the Old Town area of Semarang. He also planned to visit the relocation site of Pasar Johar which caught fire on Wednesday night, February 2, 2022.
