Jakarta Traffic Density Down 19% in First Week of PSBB Lockdown Part 2

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Jakarta Transportation Office noted a decrease in traffic density during the first week of the implementation of lockdown, known locally as Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB, in the capital. The Transportation Office chief, Syafrin Liputo, said Jakarta’s traffic density fell by 19 percent compared to the PSBB transitional period.

“The traffic volume was down between 5.23 percent and 19.28 percent from when the Transitional PSBB was imposed,” Syafrin said in a written statement, Monday, September 21.

Syafrin said that, in general, the number of public transport passengers in the first week of PSBB decreased by an average of 22.83 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers in intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) buses also decreased by 43.85 percent.

Syafrin said that during the Jakarta PSBB Volume 2, which took effect on September 14, traffic situation in Jakarta has been relatively smooth.
