Indonesia Covid-19 Update: 5,241 New Cases, 177 Deaths

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – As the government pushes vaccine rollouts, Indonesia continues to record high numbers of new Covid-19 infections. As of Wednesday noon, April 28, the National Covid-19 Task Force reported 5,241 new cases over the last 24 hours. 

Indonesia’s total caseload has now reached 1,657,035 since the virus was first detected in early March last year.

The number of casualties also increased with 177 more deaths reported, raising the death toll to 45,116.

According to data from the Health Ministry as of noon today, the new cases were obtained from testing 73,283 specimens. 

Meanwhile, the number of people who recovered from the coronavirus disease increased by 4,818. This brings the total number of recoveries to 1,511,417 cases.
