Health Ministry Guarantees Enough Drugs, Medical Supplies for Covid-19

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Health Ministry said that there are enough hospitals, medicines, and medical devices for handling COVID-19 in Indonesia. In a press conference on November 22, the ministry’s director general of health services Abdul Kadir said that the hospitals’ bed occupancy is at 50 percent capacity, leaving enough space for COVID-19 patients if there is a surge in new cases.

Kadir said the government has also prepared a strategy in case of a sudden, significant spike of new cases that require treatment.

“When the bed occupancy rate increases above 50 percent or even up to 100 percent, the Health Ministry asks hospitals to rearrange beds for Covid-19 patients, of course, with isolation rooms and ICU rooms,” he said.

The volume of medicines, medical supplies and devices prepared by the Health Ministry are currently also very sufficient, he said.

Nevertheless, Kadir urged the public to adhere to health protocols to prevent Covid-19 transmission. He reminded everyone to wear masks, wash their hands with soap and running water, and avoid crowds.
