Airport Tax Incentives Expected to Increase Christmas, New Years Passengers

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA) hopes that government incentives, in the form passenger service charge (PSC) or airport tax exemption, can boost passenger growth in the Christmas and New Year periods. The airport tax exemption is valid until the end of this year

INACA chairman Denon Prawiraatmadja said the cheaper tariffs due to the PSC cut could attract people into going on domestic vacations during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday.

“We have PSC until December 31, as a strategy to reduce the costs of transportation activities, whilst others continue gain public trust in implementing health procedures properly,” Denon said on Monday, November 23.

He hopes that the incentive will also help the Port Health Office (KKP) in handling passengers. One was is by digitizing health test results.

To anticipate passengers surge at Christmas and New Year, Denon reminded to have enough KKP officers on duty to prevent long queue of passengers getting their rapid tests.

Nowadays, he added, that checking the Health Alert Card (HAC) card can be done electronically. He hopes that it can continue for rapid test results checking — using QR code in selecting passenger rapid test results to make the process faster and more efficient.

“KKP must immediately go digital. I reminded them that if they are still done manually by the end of this year, big airports will have a tough time,” he said.
