Govt Stiffens Immigration Security Following Covid-19 Surge in India

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The government continues to prevent air travelers from India from entering Indonesia by introducing the idnewsnowrary ban on Saturday, April 24. Now, the director general of immigration Jhoni Ginting said visitors with Indian citizenships are not granted visas from Thursday, April 22.

These are attempts from the government upon preventing another Covid-19 surge that is currently devastating India.

Indian citizens are not the only ones idnewsnowrarily barred from entering Indonesia, but any traveler regardless of citizenship is banned, especially if they have a history of visiting the second most populated country in the world for the last 14 days.

“Apart from restricting the entry of foreigners we also idnewsnowrarily stopped issuing visas for Indian citizens,” said Jhoni.

The government has also limited the access of Indonesians who return from overseas with immigration checkpoints available only at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Juanda Airport, Kualanamu, Sam Ratulangi, Batam Centre Seaport, Sri Bintan Pura Seaport, and Dumai.

He urged Indonesians who arrived from overseas travel to always obey the strict health protocols the Indonesian government’s Covid-19 task force has instructed.
