Govt Lauds Saudi Arabia’s Restricted 2020 Hajj Pilgrimage

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Religious Affairs Minister on Tuesday conveyed its appreciation towards Saudi Arabia’s decision to reopen the 2020 Hajj pilgrimage under a limited quota for Saudi nationals, foreign nationals, and expatriates.

“As the government representative from the Religious Affairs Minister, I convey my appreciation toward the Saudi government that has put forth the safety of the pilgrims and [reopened] the 2020 Hajj pilgrimage,” said Fachrul in a written statement on Tuesday.

The minister maintained that the safety of the Hajj pilgrims are in line with the Indonesian government’s Hajj pilgrim departure that was canceled on June 2, which he maintains is solely based on safety reasons alone.

Endang Jumali, the hajj consul of the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, explained that Saudi Arabia’s decision to extremely limit the number of pilgrims permitted to participate in this year’s pilgrimage is based on safety alone.

Furthermore, Endang stated that the Indonesian representative office has received the official release from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
