Govt Ensures 6 Social Assistance Programs Continue Until 2021

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Indonesian government ensured that the financial social assistance programs would continue until 2021 in order to maintain the people’s purchasing power amid the COVID-19 pandemic, said Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto.

The COVID-19 mitigation committee head said the programs included presidential productive social aid for MSMEs, the Wage Subsidy, and the Pre-employment Card.

“And cash assistance, the family hope program (PKH), and the staple food program,” said Airlangga after a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta, Monday, September 7.

The presidential productive social aid targets micro and small enterprises worth Rp2.4 million for each. The government allocates Rp28.8 trillion for 12 million MSMEs this year. 

The wage subsidy is cash assistance for workers earning less than Rp5 million per month. Each employee will obtain Rp600,000 per month for four months. The Finance Ministry allotted Rp33.1 trillion for the subsidy program.

Meanwhile, the cash social assistance worth Rp500,000 is given to people who are not registered as PKH recipients. They can check whether they are included on the recipient list or not through cekbansos.siks.kemsos.go.id.
