Tax office, MIND ID ink stage-2 deal on syncing income tax data

The Taxation Directorate General of the Finance Ministry has signed another major state-owned enterprise (SOE), mining holding company MIND ID, to its flagship integrated tax data system.

The tax office finished the initial stage of migrating MIND ID to the system in August, allowing it to monitor the miner’s sales and purchases as well as automatically process its tax payments.

“We want to make an environment where tax just happens,” digital transformation director Iwan Djuniardi of the tax office said on Sept. 4 during the livestreamed signing ceremony.

Tax data integration project lead Dedi Arianto of MIND ID said at the same event that under the latest deal, the tax office and the holding company would continue to the second stage of data integration to sync income tax (PPh) data.

Dedi noted that state-owned telecommunications holding company Telkom and state-owned energy holding company Pertamina were currently pilot testing the second stage of data integration.

Pertamina was the first to sign up to the Taxation Directorate General's integrated tax data system, which was introduced in 2018 to improve transparency in taxpayer data.

“Once those two SOEs are finished, we can [proceed] with MIND ID,” he said.

MIND ID is the parent company of five mining SOEs, including diversified miner PT Aneka Tambang and gold and copper miner PT Freeport Indonesia, which will all be integrated in the tax office’s data system.

Dozens of SOEs have joined the tax office's integrated data system to varying degrees, including 98 SOEs that have joined its electronic filing system.

Iwan added that 22 other SOEs had signed up to join the integrated system within the next two months.

“No more basic problems like [misplaced] documents. Unnecessary costs due to administrative errors can be reduced,” said MIND ID president director Orias Petrus Moedak.
