Gojek Reactivates GoRide Service in Jakarta

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The online ride-hailing firm Gojek announced that its online motorcycle taxi or online ojek service dubbed GoRide is available starting today, June 8, after it was idnewsnowrarily disabled in several Indonesian regions that enforced the large-scale social restriction or PSBB.

“This reactivation complies with the Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation No. 51/2020 and Jakarta Transportation Agency’s Decree No. 105/2020 on the transportation control as prevention of Covid-19 during the PSBB transition period to a healthy, safe, and productive community,” said the firm’s Chief Corporate Affairs, Nila Marita, in a statement on Monday.

Nila explained that her company had set procedures that prioritize health and hygiene, which are in line with the city administration’s policy. For example, driver-partners are obliged to wear face masks and hand gloves, while passengers must also wear face masks.

“We also call on GoRide passengers to bring their own SNI-certified helmet,” Nila added.

Besides, the country’s decacorn had established 130 Safe Posts in major cities including Jakarta. In which, the company could screen its driver-partners’ body temperature, provide healthy kits such as masks and hand sanitizer, and spray disinfectant to drivers’ motorcycles and cars.

Through a feature on the app, passengers could also find out the driver-partners’ body temperature and status of drivers’ vehicles in order to bring a sense of safety for passengers and drivers as well.

“As mandated in the Transportation Agency’s Decree No. 105/2020, Gojek ensures it will not operate in areas enforcing a strict local social restriction by adopting a geofencing system,” Nila concluded.
