Four Million Sinovac Vaccines Arrive to Strengthen Vaccination Expansion

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Around four million of finished-form Sinovac vaccines have arrived in Indonesia. Aside from that, the United Kingdom (UK) has donated 134,560 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine. “On Tuesday, November 2nd, Indonesia received another donation for the third time from the United Kingdom in the form of 134,560 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines through bilateral relations,” said Retno Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to her, Indonesia has received one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the UK government, in accordance with the UK’s commitment to support subduing the pandemic in Indonesia.

Minister Retno added that in the difficult times caused by the pandemic, the Indonesian government highly appreciates UK’s solidarity and support as the strategic partners’ of Indonesia to assist in subduing the pandemic. “On behalf of Indonesia, I offer my gratitude to the UK for their support and I believe in the partnership that we will overcome this pandemic.”

Meanwhile, General Director of Public Communication and Information of the Minister of Communication and Information, Usman Kansong, said that with the quick arrival of vaccines the expansion and acceleration of the vaccination can be optimized.

The numbers of vaccines in Indonesia from various models whether in bulk or finished-form has reached 321,629,200 doses and until recently around 120 million of Indonesians have been vaccinated and 73 million of those have received two doses.

Usman added, vaccine arrivals is the government’s efforts to ensure the stocks, especially regarding Sinovac, the Indonesian Drug and Food Control (BPOM) has also permitted kids on the age between 6 to 11 to be vaccinated.

Usman believed, with that decision, children protection can be optimized, especially now that they have attended school physically (PTM). According to him, the government will regulate plan to vaccinate children.

On that occasion, Usman said the government also reminded that vaccination is not only to protect oneself but also to protect families and people and it needs support from people for the vaccination to reach 70 percent of Indonesians to build up herd immunity.

“Along with that, the government reminds people to uphold health protocols.”
