Febri Diansyah Steps Down from KPK

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Febri Diansyah reportedly stepped down from his position as the Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and also as an employee.

The former anti-graft body spokesperson had submitted the resignation letter to the Secretary-General dated September 18, 2020.

Based on the information received by Tempo, Febri resigned due to ‘changes in political and legal conditions in the KPK’.

That links to the revision of the Corruption Eradication Commission Law, which many anti-corruption activists deemed weakening the power of the institution. The new regulation noted that the status of all employees of the KPK will be turned to civil servants or PNS.

In his letter, Febri demanded the KPK secretariat general process his resignation in no longer than October 18, 2020. He also wrote that he would finish all his tasks within the period. Febri has not yet responded to this information.

Febri Diansyah was an activist at the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) before joining the KPK. He was appointed as a spokesperson in 2016 until 2019, shortly after Firli Bahuri chaired the institution.
