COVID-19 Task Force Scraps Quarantine Dispensation for State Officials

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia’s COVID-19 Task Force decided to remove the policy allowing quarantine dispensation for state officials, including echelon I and members of the House of Representatives (DPR).

This new policy was stipulated in the Decree of the COVID-19 Task Force No. 2 of 2022 concerning entrances, quarantine centers, and mandatory RT-PCR tests for Indonesian citizens traveling overseas.

“As the Task Force’s Decree No. 2 of 2022 comes into effect, the dispensation to self-quarantine for all officials is no longer applicable,” said a spokesperson for the task force, Wiku Adisasmito, on Thursday, January 6.

State officials are now required to carry out centralized quarantine in locations determined by the Task Force. According to the decree inked by the COVID-19 Task Force head Lt. Gen. Suharyanto on January 4, if they refuse to undergo quarantine at the set location, they must undergo quarantine at hotels appointed by the task force at their own cost.
