East Nusa Tenggara Police Chief Discharges 13 Members

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif dishonorably discharged 13 police officers due to immoral acts and family abandonment.

“I see many cases that have not been thoroughly investigated, so I summoned the heads of the Propam (police’s internal affairs division) and human resources division to discuss the matter,” said Lotharia in Kupang, Thursday, October 28.

According to him, some of the 13 dismissed officers were involved in old cases, including in 2005, but the decision to remove them was only made recently.

Lotharia emphasized that since the beginning of his office term, he is serious about his words regarding the dismissal of members who were involved in legal cases or misconduct.

Legal certainty to members who commit violations must be granted in order to prevent questions about the police’s integrity among the public.

He also explained that the decision was taken recently because several cases needed to be coordinated with relevant agencies.

Lotharia outlined that the 13 officers were used to be tasked in several sectoral police offices across NTT, namely Lembata Resort Police (two officers), Kupang Resort Police (two officers), Belu Resort Police (one officer), North Central Timor Resort Police (two officers), Sikka Resort Police (one officer), Alor Resort Police (one officer), NTT Regional Police (one officer), East Flores Resort Police (one officer), and South Central Timor Police (two officers).
