Densus 88 Arrests PDRI Chair Farid Okbah

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The National Police’s counterterrorism squad, Densus 88, has arrested Farid Okbah, general chairman of the Indonesian People’s Da’wah Party (PDRI). This report has been confirmed by Insp. Gene. Dedi Prasetyo, Head of the Public Relations Division at the National Police Headquarters.

However, Dedi declined to provide details about when and why Faris was arrested.

“Let’s wait for the Densus. I will inform you of the progress,” Dedi told Tempo on Tuesday, November 16.

As quoted from the PDRI website, Farid Okbah was one of the party’s founders together with a number of ulema and Islamic activists.

The website stated that the Party’s goal is to fight constitutionally to achieve its goals through continuous political da’wah, and to continue the political da’wah relay that was initiated by the Masyumi Party in 1945.
