IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Covid-19 handling task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito in a statement on Wednesday revealed that the government is attempting to suppress weekly Covid-19 case growth to its lowest possible point in order to start the transition from a pandemic to an endemic.
“At least below 10,000 weekly cases must be reached. Once it is achieved, the Covid-19 condition in Indonesia can be considered under control and ready for an endemic situation,” Wiku wrote in his statement on September 29.
As of September 26, the country’s weekly coronavirus case growth logged 17,250 cases, which is a significant drop compared to the second case surge and lower than mid-2020 that logged 18,675 cases per week.
“This commendable achievement is from what we learned in facing the Covid-19 pandemic for the past year and a half,” he added.
He said regional governments are pushed to be more resilient and prepared in monitoring and responding to each region’s individual dynamic condition.
